This Week's Announcements

Southwest Courtyard Opening:
Sunday, May 4th , 11:30 a.m.

The new Southwest Courtyard will be dedicated on Sunday May 4, at 11:30am, in a ceremony with St. Paul’s Episcopal School community. Costs for the newly-fenced courtyard were shared by the Church and a generous donation from a friend of the School. Please join us for a brief dedication, light refreshments, and a chance to see this new garden and labyrinth.

Women’s Spirituality Group
Wednesday, May 7th, 6:00 p.m.

The Women’s Spirituality Group will be meeting this Wednesday, May 7, at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapter Room.  The group will begin with the introduction and the first two chapters of Sara Miles’ new book, Take this Bread, her story of coming to faith and developing a feeding program at St. Gregory of Nyssa. In San Francisco.  Yes the church is right--do you want to add "in San Francisco.  Newcomers are welcome.  The group meets at 6:00 PM for a pot luck supper and then discusses the reading; there is also has a time of prayerful meditation.

Special Events Around the Parish

Special Diocesan Convention
Saturday, May 10
Grace Cathedral

Bishop Andrus has called a Special Convention of the Diocese to be held at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco on May 10, 2008, beginning at 9:00 AM. The purpose of the Special Convention is 1) to receive the report resulting from the Beloved Community Visioning Process, 2) to consider and vote on amendments to the Canons of the Diocese regarding the governance of the Diocese, and 3) to consider and vote on such resolutions as may be necessary to implement the changes in governance.  You’ll be hearing more about this from the St. Paul’s delegates, but, in the meantime, if you want to know more,  call Carolyn Knapp: (510) 658-6547 or check the event announcement at www.diocal.org

Knitting for a Good Cause
Saturday, May 17, 8:30 a.m.

This Saturday, May 17 at 8:30 in the Chapter Room, members and friends of St. Augustine's and St. Paul's will meet to knit. Bring some yarn and some needles for fun and fellowship. Many of us are working on hats or scarves to be donated to Highland and Children's Hospitals. Our resident Master Knitter will be there to help, teach and coach. Sacred Spaces Program
Saturday, May 17, at Holy Cross, Castro Valley

The Rev. Dr. Lizette Larson-Miller, Kaehr Prof of Liturgy at CDSP, will be presenting a program on Sacred Spaces at the Spring 2008 General Meeting of the Diocesan Altar Guild that is open to ALL interested parishioners.  Come learn where your sacred places may be!  It will be held on Saturday, May 17th at Holy Cross Episcopal Church , 119179 Center St in Castro Valley.  The program includes morning coffee and registration at 9 a.m., Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. followed by the program and luncheon.  Program cost including refreshments and luncheon is $25.  If there is enough interest, we could register as a group and carpool.   Kathy McClelland (510-813-6205 /510-336-9734) has a registration form, or you can also call Marty Jewett at 510-235-3728.

Training and Education Opportunities

Training for Lectors, Chalice-bearers, Acolytes, & Subdeacons

People who would like to be trained to be lectors, chalice bearers, acolytes, and subdeacons are invited to speak with Anne Jensen. Education for Ministries

If you are interested in taking a spiritual journey using theological reflection and Biblical study, Education for Ministries may be for you! EfM is an educational program that encourages its participants to explore their beliefs and to develop their ministries in the body of Christ. Please send any Green Sheet announcements to greensheet at stpaulsoakland (.) org and include “green sheet” in the message line, or call the church office at 834-4314. Announcements should be under 100 words and should be submitted by Monday at 5 p.m. for the following Sunday.
