Serving One Another & Our Community Through Your Gifts |
Our faith teaches us that everything we have comes from a generous and loving God. In turn, we wish to be thoughtful and careful stewards of the gifts we have received. Our gifts of time, talent, and treasure, make manifest God's love for us.
The pie charts below show dollar values from the 2025 budget. Salaries and benefits of all employees are spread proportionally over the programs they serve, and administrative and facility costs are spread equally across all areas.
We are entirely self-funded. Most of our funding comes from the financial gifts of our parishioners. We do not receive financial support from the diocese or from the national church.
Every gift helps sustain our programs, worship and outreach. Our financial reserves account for a significant percent of our needed income.
Your continued generosity supports our worship life, and our ministries that care for one another, serve our neighbors, nurture spiritual growth, pursue justice, and maintain the spaces where we worship and gather.
Our parish has experienced increased costs over the past several years due to inflation and increased minsitry activities. If you are able to increase your donation this year, we would be very grateful! Worship
Worship is the foundation of our life together at St. Paul’s. We are grateful for our clergy, the Rev. Dr. Mauricio J. Wilson, Rector, the Rev. Christian Harding, Asssociate Priest Emeritus, the Rev. Linda McConnell, Assisting Priest, the Ven. Canon Carolyn Bolton, Archdeacon, the Ven. Gary England, Archdeacon, and the Rev. Stephen Tiffenson, Deacon, who enrich our worship and help us build the body of Christ through service to our community. We also give thanks for the presence of our seminarians: this past year: Cara Meredith was ordained to the transitional deaconate and the Rev. Rachel Dykzuel was ordained as priest. Our ushers, acolytes, readers, subdeacons and altar guild members faithfully perform their ministries, welcoming visitors, preparing our worship space, reading scripture, assisting at the altar, and writing and leading Prayers of the People. Our choir, under the leadership of Ben Bachmann, added several new members in the past year and offers special music during feast days. We look forward to the Fauré Requiem with orchestra on All Saints Day, and a special Evensong on the Feast of the Ascension in 2027. Our Columbarium in the Chapel of Peace has had a facelift, thanks to Deacon Gary England! Welcoming and Caring for Our CommunityWeekly coffee hour and special food events enrich our fellowship and keep conversations flowing. Our Pastoral Care team, led by the Deacon Gary England, adds and tracks people in need of prayer, visitation and other pastoral assistance. Individuals are able to express requests
online through published links and in person by contacting Deacon Gary or any clergy person. Our Welcome team, led by Carolyn Knapp and our ushers, meet and welcome those walking through our doors for the first time. Our parish founded St. Paul’s Episcopal School 50+ years ago for students of all backgrounds. From its inception, and continuing today, our support includes sharing our buildings and providing significantly below-market rent. St. Paul’s welcomed the broader community in a new way this past year. The art show, “Oakland Faith,” featuring photographs of places of worship and faith leaders in Oakland by award winning photographers Nicolo Sertorio and J Michael Tucker, was installed in the church from November 2025 to January 2026. The first show of its kind at St. Paul’s, it reflects our commitment to support the arts in our community. Every year, St. Paul’s Friends of Music brings exceptional music and diverse performances to our community, enriching the lives of thousands of attendees. Led by parishioners Victoria and Richard Larson, we welcomed eleven groups in 2025 for 23 concerts and $22,700 in revenue ($15,000 over budget) and is on track to surpass this in 2026. Watch for upcoming events at stpaulsoakland.org/concerts. The Organ Restoration Committee, led by Carol Paxson, has been working behind the scenes to prepare for a 2027 launch of fundraising for the restoration of our historic and reknowned Austin organ, the Alexander Allen Memorial Organ. Our organ's fascinating history can be found at stpaulsoakland.org/organ-history. |
