On June 26th the Reverend Richard Schaper CFP, who was our preacher that Sunday, led a planned giving workshop in the courtyard following the 10 o’clock service. We had a good turnout, and he shared estate planning ideas, including the reasons for ensuring one has an up-to-date will, as well as simple ways to remember St. Paul’s in one’s long-range giving plans.
Check out the web site Freewill.com, where in no more than 20 minutes one can create a simple will. Also, for California residents, the web site offers:
Ways to create a revocable living trust
Directions on how to provide beneficiary designations for assets such as 401k’s, IRA’S and life insurance that may not be included in a will or trust.
There is no cost for this do-it-yourself advice. It is available through the support from a consortium of nonprofit organizations, who anticipate that many who use this web site may chose to leave a gift to causes, they care about…. like St. Paul’s. We hope you will consider doing the same!
On All Saints Sunday, November 6, we plan a celebration honoring the founding of the St. Paul’s Legacy Society and those who have made provisions in their estate plans to provide for St. Paul’s after their death. We hope to add new members to this list. The next two months is a good time to review your estate plans and consider a future gift to St. Paul’s. Fr. Schaper has also offered to help in any way possible. His email address is, firstname.lastname@example.org.
